Employment Services
Manage employers, job opportunities, placements, workplace information, and employment-related communication
Overview
Staff can maintain employer relationships, track available job opportunities, identify potential placements, document communication with employers, and keep a record of where Individuals are working. Employment information connects back to the Individual so staff can see both the employer relationship and the Individual's employment history.
Employer Profiles
The Employers area is the central directory of businesses and organizations your agency works with.
Each Employer Profile stores information about the employer and serves as the starting point for employment-related activities associated with that organization.
From the Employers screen, staff can search and filter employers by information such as:
- Employer name
- Job type
- Employer type
- Employer status
Employer Profiles can also connect to job openings, placements, communications, and workplace information.
Job Openings
Job Openings allow staff to track employment opportunities available through employers your organization works with.
For example, when an employer has an available position, a staff member can add the opportunity to SETWorks. Employment staff can then use those openings when working with Individuals to identify potential jobs that may be a good fit.
This creates a shared view of available opportunities rather than relying on individual staff members to maintain their own lists.
Employer Maps
Employer Maps provide a geographic view of employers and employment opportunities.
Staff can use filters to identify employers or job openings within a particular area. For example, a staff member could look for available jobs within a certain distance of an Individual's home or see Individuals located near a potential employment opportunity.
This can help teams consider transportation, commute distance, and location when identifying potential placements.
Job Placements
Job Placements track where Individuals are currently or have previously been placed for employment.
From an Employer Profile, staff can see the Individuals placed with that employer. Placement information is also available from the Individual's record, giving staff both perspectives:
Employer → Individuals working there
and
Individual → Employer/job placement
This helps teams maintain a clear record of employment relationships over time.
Employer Communications
Communication with employers is an important part of employment services.
Staff can document interactions with an employer, including:
- What the communication was about
- Notes or comments from the discussion
- Follow-up related to an Individual or placement
- Work performed by staff to support the employment relationship
This creates a shared history of the provider's relationship with the employer and helps other staff understand previous conversations and next steps.
When applicable, employment-related work can also be documented through an Individual's billable record and connected back to Employer Communications.
Workplace Analysis
A Workplace Analysis describes characteristics of an employer's work environment.
This information can help employment staff evaluate whether a workplace may be a good match for an Individual.
For example, an Individual may work better in a quiet environment, need limited distractions, or benefit from particular workplace conditions. Capturing information about the workplace gives staff another tool for matching Individuals with appropriate employment opportunities.
Employment Scheduling
Employment services may operate differently from other service models.
Employment staff often manage their own schedules and appointments as they coordinate employer visits, job development, placement activities, and Individual support.
This differs from services such as residential or day programs, where schedules may be created and managed centrally by a manager.
Employment-related scheduling should therefore support staff managing their own calendars while still allowing the organization to maintain visibility into scheduled services.
How Employment Information Fits Together
A typical employment workflow might look like this:
Employer Profile → Job Opening → Identify an Individual → Job Placement → Ongoing Employer Communication & Visits
Throughout the process, staff can use employer and workplace information to identify good matches, document the work they perform, and maintain a history of the relationship between the Individual, provider, and employer.

I think “Employment Services in New SETWorks” is a better article title than “Employers,” because what you're describing is much broader than employer management. Employers is one utility within the overall Employment Services workflow.
I would also eventually break out Job Openings, Employer Maps, Job Placements, Employer Communications, and Workplace Analysis into their own “How to…” articles and have this page serve as the hub that links to them. That mirrors the task-oriented approach of the current SETWorks Knowledge Hub without making this introductory article enormous.
