This month, we’re taking a closer look at how AI is beginning to shape the IEP process in education. As AI tools become more common in K-12 settings, many special education teachers are using them to support tasks like drafting goals, analyzing student progress, and managing documentation—saving time, but also introducing new considerations around privacy, bias, and consistency.
As a result, IEPs may start to look and feel different, which has implications for how providers interpret educational records, support transitions, and align services with real-world needs. It’s a reminder that as AI evolves in education, providers play a critical role in understanding what’s behind the paperwork—and how it impacts the people we serve.

A HopeSTUDIO artist holding a hand-woven wine bag, a product created from the Hope Services program
Allison and April-Marie highlighted the transformative power of the arts in disability services by sharing about HopeSTUDIO. Started in 2017, this unique weaving program combines therapeutic benefits with financial empowerment, helping artists of all abilities build confidence and earn meaningful income.
By connecting artists with the broader community through partnerships with local businesses, HopeSTUDIO goes beyond skill-learning and artistic expression. The program has paid out more than $31K in commissions to its artists and has strengthened community connections since its inception.
Thank you, Allison and April-Marie, for sharing your organization’s incredible impact with our team!
